Medical preparedness is a cornerstone of traveling with RYDER Signature. Our partnership with AMREF Flying Doctors provides access to one of East Africa's most established medical evacuation services, and our ground level medical response complements that evacuation capability with immediate care on site.
AMREF Flying Doctors operates a leading air ambulance and medical evacuation service in East Africa. Their fleet of dedicated medical aircraft can reach most locations in Tanzania and Kenya within hours, providing 24/7 emergency coordination, fixed wing and helicopter evacuation, aircraft equipped for critical patients, international evacuation coordination, and telemedicine consultation. Every RYDER Signature guest receives this coverage as standard.
Field medical capability extends beyond evacuation. All guides complete Wilderness First Aid certification, and every vehicle carries trauma supplies, splinting materials, medication for common ailments and allergic reaction, rehydration supplies for heat related conditions, and an emergency communication device.
Hospital access is strongest in the major cities. Arusha, Nairobi, and Dar es Salaam offer internationally accredited hospitals with modern capability, while remote areas have far fewer options, which is exactly why our field capability and evacuation partnership matter most there.
Emergency communication runs on redundant systems: cellular coverage where available, a VHF radio network connecting vehicles and lodges, satellite phones for remote wilderness, GPS tracking for precise location sharing, and a 24/7 operations center monitoring every journey.
