About Soroi Larsens Camp

About Soroi Larsens Camp

Soroi Larsens Camp carries the name of Eric Larsen the famed early explorer of northern Kenya and is built on the very spot he first pitched his camp on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in Samburu. Under its current operator, the Soroi Collection, the property has been transformed into a boutique luxury retreat that honours the spirit of early African adventure while delivering thoroughly contemporary comfort. Set in a verdant belt of riverine forest on the river’s south bank, the camp looks across the water into Buffalo Springs National Reserve, with the Ol Olokwe mountain providing a dramatic backdrop.

Twelve luxury tented suites, two family units, and two deluxe luxury tented suites sixteen units in total each have a spacious king-size bed, private en-suite bathroom, and a large wooden terrace over the river with unobstructed water frontage. Deluxe suites feature outdoor showers and rooftop ‘star beds’ for sleeping under the Samburu night sky. The camp’s infinity pool is set into the riverbank; the spa uses traditional Kenyan herbs and techniques. Daily drives cover both Samburu and Buffalo Springs National Reserves, where the ‘Samburu Special Five’ Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, and Somali ostrich are resident alongside the traditional Big Five. Rates include full board, all local drinks, twice-daily drives, camp walks, and laundry.
