Plantation Lodge is a small, owner-run boutique property set on 10 landscaped hectares in the Karatu highlands, combining intimate scale with consistent attention to detail. Its 12 rooms and suites have been individually furnished, and the 10-hectare garden a mix of manicured lawns, flowering borders, and productive kitchen plots are among the most beautiful of any lodge in the Ngorongoro region. The property has operated at this standard for many years and maintains a loyal guest following as a result.
The lodge is positioned 12km from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area entrance and 35km from Lake Manyara National Park, making it ideal for a two- or three-night stay that combines crater game drives with Manyara excursions. Meals in the dining room emphasise fresh produce from the estate gardens, and the spa and pool provide the natural counterpoint to days spent on safari.
Twelve rooms and suites are individually decorated with careful attention to furnishings and detail. Garden Rooms open onto private verandas with garden views; Garden Suites offer additional space. All are en-suite.
Lake Manyara Airport (LKY) is the nearest airstrip, approximately 35km from the lodge. Charter flights from Arusha and Kilimanjaro serve this airstrip regularly. Road transfers from the airstrip can be arranged by the lodge.
