Mara Intrepids Camp is a celebrated Heritage Hotels property with over 25 years of operation in the Maasai Mara, occupying one of the reserve’s most strategically advantageous positions: the Talek River, at the confluence of the Mara’s four primary game-viewing areas. This central location gives guests access to the full diversity of the ecosystem the Mara Triangle, the Talek and Olare Orok sectors, and the central reserve from a single base, and the Talek River corridor itself attracts wildlife year-round. The camp is fenced, making it suitable for families with young children, and has garnered a strong reputation for high-quality guiding, attentive service, and the Adventurers’ Club programme led by the camp’s resident naturalist.
Thirty tents spread across four distinct riverside clusters are spacious and elegantly furnished with African mahogany furniture, oversized four-poster beds, high thatched roofs, and polished wooden floors. Each has a raised private platform with river views and an en-suite bathroom with shower and flush toilet. A refreshing swimming pool and outdoor dining areas share views over the Talek. Full board is included along with three daily game drives; the camp also offers pre-dinner wildlife expert talks, guided cultural visits to Maasai villages, and optional hot-air balloon safaris. WiFi is available in the main lodge area.
The Maasai Mara is reached by a 45-minute scheduled charter flight from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport (WIL). Multiple daily flights are available on shared charters, operated by several Kenyan carriers. International travellers arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) can transfer to Wilson Airport or arrange a private charter flight directly to the camp’s nearest airstrip. Road access from Nairobi takes approximately 5–6 hours and is not recommended except for the most budget-conscious travellers.
