Laba Ngorongoro is a new luxury lodge that opened in 2026, built on the historic site of the former Rhino Lodge on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Its positionthe closest lodge to the Conservation Area’s main entrance, at an altitude of 2,200 metres is historically significant: the lodge’s reception and bar are housed within the preserved home of Henry Albert Fosbrooke (1905–1996), the first ecologist of the Ngorongoro region and the figure most responsible for the area’s UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. This connection to the crater’s conservation history is woven throughout the lodge’s design and guest experience.
Twenty Deluxe Suites of 50m² each feature a private living area, minibar, espresso machine, dressing area, bathtub, and private terrace with forest and mountain views. The Laba Laba group commits 30% of profits to conservation and humanitarian programmes in Tanzania. An organic dining philosophy brings locally sourced, pesticide-free produce to the table, with French pastry standards setting the culinary tone.
Twenty Deluxe Suites of 50m² each include a private lounge, dressing area, bathtub, and terrace with views of the Ngorongoro forest and Oldeani and Makarot mountains.
Lake Manyara Airport (LKY) is approximately 40 minutes by road. Charter flights from Arusha Airport and Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) serve this airstrip. The lodge is the closest on the crater rim to the Ngorongoro main gate and can arrange all transfers.
