Kilimanjaro Coffee Lodge occupies a unique position on the Machare Estate the highest organic coffee plantation in the Kilimanjaro region, set at 1,550 metres on the upper slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Established and run by the same family that has cultivated this 236-hectare estate since 1998, the lodge offers a deeply immersive coffee country experience: guests can join guided plantation tours, watch the bean-to-cup process at the on-site processing factory, and participate in cupping sessions before settling into cottages that overlook the coffee fields with views of Kilimanjaro on clear days.
The setting makes the lodge a natural fit as a pre-safari or post-climb retreat, with the national park gate minutes away. A nature-fed swimming pool extends into the surrounding rainforest, a spa provides treatments in a forest setting, and the open-plan restaurant serves farm-to-table cuisine prepared from estate and local produce. The lodge’s family character and commitment to sustainability are evident throughout.
Six premium cottages and a two-bedroom family villa are set among the coffee trees, each furnished with locally crafted furniture and en-suite bathrooms. Views of Kilimanjaro are available on clear mornings.
Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) is approximately 1.5 hours by road, and the lodge can arrange transfers on request. Arusha Airport (ARK) is around 2 hours by road.
