Kigoma Hilltop Hotel sits on a peaceful rocky outcrop in acres of lush gardens on the eastern shores of Lake Tanganyika, the world’s second-deepest lake, just outside Kigoma town in western Tanzania. The hotel is the principal gateway accommodation for travellers heading into Tanzania’s western parks Gombe Stream National Park (for chimpanzee trekking) and Mahale Mountains National Park (for chimps and Lake Tanganyika) both accessible by boat from Kigoma. The hotel is also managed in association with Mbali Mbali Lodges and Camps.
Thirty cottage-style rooms are arranged across the hilltop with private balconies offering lake views. The flower-shaped swimming pool, private beach, two restaurants (including the open-deck poolside Sangara Restaurant serving freshly caught Nile Perch), gym, tennis court, and conference venues make it a full-service property well suited to both leisure travellers and conferencing groups. The hotel is fully Tanzanian-owned and operated, with a strong community commitment including support for local schools, water wells, and health clinics. Note: the hotel is a dry property and does not serve alcoholic beverages on site.
Thirty cottage-style rooms including Executive Doubles, Executive Twins, Junior Suites, a Honeymoon Suite, and a Family Junior Suite. All rooms have private balconies with Lake Tanganyika views, air conditioning, TV, refrigerator, and en-suite bathroom.
Kigoma Airport (TKQ) is approximately 15 minutes by road from the hotel. Precision Air and other regional carriers operate flights from Dar es Salaam. Charter flights from Arusha or other Tanzania hubs can also be arranged. Airport transfers to the hotel are available on request.
