Perched on the slopes of Machame Road on the flanks of Mount Kilimanjaro, Kaliwa Lodge is a thoughtfully designed retreat that blends Bauhaus-inspired architecture with the abundant tropical gardens of Northern Tanzania. Located 20 kilometres from Moshi and 30 kilometres from Kilimanjaro International Airport, the lodge offers clear mountain views and direct proximity to the Machame route gateway making it a natural choice for climbers, safari-goers, and travellers seeking a quiet base between adventures.
The atmosphere is deliberately unhurried. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of Kilimanjaro’s cloud-ringed summit, while eucalyptus wood furnishings and verdant gardens create a sense of grounded calm. The on-site restaurant and whisky bar give the lodge a warm social character in the evenings.
The lodge offers standard rooms in the main house alongside garden bungalows, all individually furnished with natural materials and European standards of comfort. Rooms are designed to let in mountain air and natural light.
Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) is the primary gateway, approximately 30 kilometres from the lodge. Transfers can be arranged directly through the lodge on request.
