Hemingways Nairobi is the flagship property of the Hemingways Collection, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and listed on American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts. The hotel is set in the peaceful leafy suburb of Karen named after Danish author Karen Blixen of Out of Africa fame, whose farmhouse is now a nearby museum between the foot of the Ngong Hills and the northern boundary of Nairobi National Park, placing it at the junction of city life and the African wilderness. From every suite, the Ngong Hills fill the view in a sweep of layered blue and green that feels entirely removed from Nairobi’s traffic and noise, yet the city centre, the Giraffe Centre, and the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust are all within easy reach.
Forty-five all-suite rooms including two penthouse-style Presidential Suites are designed with high ceilings, brass and mahogany accents, leather furnishings, oversized bathrooms (freestanding bath, rain shower, separate toilet), and private terraces or balconies with Ngong Hills views. Each guest is assigned a personal butler for the duration of their stay. The Brasserie restaurant is celebrated for its seasonal menu and legendary steaks; the Hemingways Bar serves crafted cocktails, rare cognacs, and an extensive wine list; and the Pool Bar and Afternoon Tea complete the dining offering. An outdoor pool, spa, gym, and sauna round out the wellness amenities.
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) serves Nairobi with direct flights from London, Amsterdam, Dubai, Doha, Istanbul, Addis Ababa, and many other international hubs. The hotel arranges airport transfers; journey time from JKIA to the hotel varies 20–45 minutes depending on location and traffic. Wilson Airport (WIL) serves domestic and safari charter flights.
