Elewana Lewa Safari Camp is one of four camps within the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Lewa Wildlife Conservancy one of East Africa’s most celebrated conservation landscapes, home to 10% of Kenya’s black rhino population, large herds of Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, elephant, lion, cheetah, and leopard. Operated by the Elewana Collection, the camp delivers the brand’s signature blend of authentic safari character and polished hospitality in a setting of outstanding wildlife significance. The conservancy’s community model centred on the Craig family’s pioneering work transforming a cattle ranch into one of Africa’s great wildlife sanctuaries gives every guest stay a conservation dimension that goes beyond the camp itself.
A small and intimate collection of well-appointed tented rooms and suites are set in a scenic area of the conservancy with views of Mount Kenya. Each tent has a private deck, en-suite bathroom, and comfortable furnishings that balance bush character with Elewana’s refined aesthetic. A swimming pool, restaurant, bar, and spa tent provide the main communal facilities. Activities in the Lewa Conservancy are exceptionally varied: game drives (day and night), guided walks, horseback safaris, camel rides, mountain biking, visits to the canine anti-poaching unit, and scenic flights in a WACO biplane over the conservancy’s dramatic landscape. Full board rates include meals, local drinks, drives, and laundry.
Laikipia is reached by a 40–60 minute charter flight from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport (WIL) to Nanyuki Airport (NYK) or a private airstrip on or near the conservancy. SafariLink and Air Kenya both serve the Nanyuki route. The camp arranges transfers from the airstrip. By road from Nairobi the journey takes 3–4 hours via the A2 highway north through Nanyuki.
