Chem Chem Lodge champions what its owners call the “Slow Safari” an approach that places space, stillness, and connection with the landscape above activity-driven itineraries. Set in a private conservancy between Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Park, the lodge offers eight award-winning tented suites that open directly onto the surrounding plains, where elephants graze and the distant shimmer of the lake catches the light at dawn.
The lodge’s design draws entirely from its environment: nature-inspired palettes, organic textures, and handcrafted furniture create a setting that celebrates the landscape rather than distracting from it. Maasai culture is woven naturally into the guest experience, from guided walks with local warriors to sundowners on the plains.
Eight tented suites, including one family suite, are positioned to maximise both views and privacy. Each suite is a generous, private canvas between the guest and the Tanzanian wilderness.
The nearest airstrip is Lake Manyara (LKY), with scheduled flights from Arusha via Coastal Aviation and other operators a flight of approximately 20 minutes. Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) is also accessible, around 2.5–3 hours by road. The lodge team coordinates transfers from all arrival points.
Our safari designers will build a bespoke itinerary entirely tailored to you.
