Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge is one of the Maasai Mara’s and Amboseli’s most enduring luxury properties, operated by Serena Hotels East Africa’s premier lodge group. The lodge sits inside Amboseli National Park at a prime location facing the Kilimanjaro massif across the flat acacia-dotted savannah, offering front-row seats to one of the world’s most photographed landscapes. The lodge was designed by architects to replicate the traditional circular structure of a Maasai village a series of organic, thatched mud-walled buildings interlinking around a central garden, bar, restaurant, and the famous pool overlooking the Kilimanjaro backdrop.
Amboseli is home to the world’s most studied elephant population over 1,500 individuals whose family histories have been documented for more than 40 years by the Amboseli Elephant Research Project. The Serena lodge’s guides have deep familiarity with these habituated herds. Seventy-two rooms range from standard rooms through Maasai Suite configurations; all feature en-suite bathrooms, AC, and private verandas or balconies. The lodge’s conference centre, spa, pool with Kilimanjaro views, and a commitment to community engagement through the Serena Foundation make it a comprehensive option for both leisure and event bookings in Amboseli.
Amboseli Airport (ASV) is served by scheduled charter flights from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport (WIL), a journey of approximately 45–60 minutes. The camp arranges road transfers from the airstrip, which typically include a game drive en route to camp a superb introduction to the ecosystem. By road from Nairobi the journey takes approximately 4 hours on the A104 highway. Private charters from JKIA can be arranged directly to Amboseli.
