After two nights in the primary migration zone (Kogatende north or Ndutu south), the Day 3 drive moves through the Serengeti’s middle section toward the Central Serengeti’s Seronera zone, completing the relocation by late afternoon. This transition serves two purposes: it prevents the migration zone from becoming repetitive on the third consecutive day, and it introduces the Central Serengeti’s resident predator population — an entirely different ecological system from the migration zone’s seasonal density.

The Day 3 arc drive is a wildlife experience in its own right. The Lobo Hills zone between the North Serengeti and the Central Plains — a terrain of granite inselbergs, mixed woodland, and diverse resident wildlife that most visitors never access — provides sightings that the more-visited zones do not. Elephant herds in the Lobo area are different populations from the Seronera plains elephants; the kopje lions of the mid-Serengeti are distinct from the Mara woodland prides and the Seronera river prides.
