Zebra Plains Mara Camp is an owner-operated mid-range safari camp set below the Oldonyo Loip Ridge in the Maasai Mara, run by Alfred Korir a professional Kenyan safari guide with over a decade of guiding experience across Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa whose personal investment in the property ensures a level of guiding knowledge and authentic safari character rare at this price point. The ridge is one of the most important wildlife habitats in the greater Mara, providing both big cat territory and a key migration corridor that is protected under the camp’s community conservation commitments.
The camp accommodates guests in five well-furnished tents with four-poster beds, bright rugs, safari chairs, and individual Mara plains or ridge views. A family tent accommodating up to six is available. Five comfortable lounges one of which adjoins a well-stocked bar and an outdoor dining area with bonfires in the evening create a convivial social space. Experienced guides lead twice-daily game drives; hot-air balloon safaris, cultural Maasai village visits, and bush picnic breakfasts can be arranged. Full board is included, with three-course plated meals and an English breakfast that has generated consistently positive guest feedback.
The Maasai Mara is reached by a 45-minute scheduled charter flight from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport (WIL). Multiple daily flights are available on shared charters, operated by several Kenyan carriers. International travellers arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) can transfer to Wilson Airport or arrange a private charter flight directly to the camp’s nearest airstrip. Road access from Nairobi takes approximately 5–6 hours and is not recommended except for the most budget-conscious travellers.
