Tarangire Greenland Retreat is an intimate, solar-powered bush camp set deep inside Tarangire National Park, 25km from the main gate and well away from the day-tripper traffic. Surrounded by a forest of ancient baobab trees and home to just 10 luxury canvas tents, the retreat offers genuine wilderness immersion at an accessible price point — barefoot elegance in one of Tanzania’s most distinctive landscapes. Tarangire is renowned across East Africa for its extraordinary elephant herds, baobab-studded plains, and over 500 recorded bird species.
The camp’s philosophy centres on slow, meaningful engagement with the environment: guided game drives with expert naturalists, bush dining under the open sky, nature walks, and evening stargazing are the defining activities here. The absence of a swimming pool and other resort trappings is by design — the star of every stay is the landscape itself.
Ten luxury canvas tents are positioned among the baobabs, each with a private outdoor seating area, quality beds with clean linens, and en-suite facilities with hot shower. Solar power keeps the environmental footprint low while providing all essential comforts.
Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) is the primary international arrival point. Charter flights to Kuro Airstrip inside Tarangire National Park can be arranged from Arusha or Kilimanjaro, significantly shortening the road transfer. The camp can assist in coordinating fly-in arrangements.
