Tan-Swiss Lodge is a family-owned, Swiss-managed lodge located in Mikumi village, 2km from the boundary of Mikumi National Park Tanzania’s fifth-largest national park and most accessible wildlife reserve from Dar es Salaam. The lodge blends Tanzanian warmth with Swiss-style attention to service quality and cleanliness, and is a firm favourite among travellers looking for comfortable, affordable accommodation close to the park without the premium rates of inside-park properties. Twenty rooms and bungalows are arranged in a well-maintained garden setting with large shady trees, an outdoor swimming pool, and a restaurant and bar serving a wide variety of Tanzanian, Swiss, Chinese, Indian, and Italian dishes.
Each room and bungalow features air conditioning, private en-suite bathroom, satellite TV, and a private balcony or veranda. Five family-sized bungalows accommodate up to four guests each. The lodge organises game drives into Mikumi National Park, which is home to lion, leopard, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, wild dog, zebra, and over 400 bird species. Day trips to the Udzungwa Mountains can also be arranged.

Tan-Swiss Lodge is located in Mikumi village on the Dar es Salaam-Zambia/Malawi highway (A7), 2km from the Mikumi National Park boundary and 17km from the main park entrance gate. By road from Dar es Salaam the journey takes approximately 6 hours. The lodge is convenient for bus travellers and can arrange pickup from the Mikumi bus stop.
Mikumi airstrip is a short drive from the lodge. Scheduled flights from Dar es Salaam take approximately 45 minutes.
