Serengeti Explorer is the first lodge under Elewana Collection’s new Explorer brand, opened in January 2025 on the site of the former Serengeti Sopa Lodge, which has been entirely rebuilt to an upscale contemporary standard. Set high on the Nyaboro Hills in the south-central Serengeti, the lodge offers sweeping panoramic views across the Great Migration corridor, where herds pass through between March and June. The lodge’s signature innovation is the Serengeti’s first purpose-built on-site hide — accessible through an underground tunnel — that allows guests to view wildlife drinking at a watering hole from ground level without any vehicle or human presence disturbing the scene.
Sixty-eight well-appointed explorer rooms and six suites all have private balconies with Serengeti views. Four restaurants span the spectrum from the main Acacia dining room and poolside Kisimani bistro to the outdoor Boma with Swahili dishes under the stars, and the Divai wine cellar for a chef’s table experience. A Riva Wellness Centre, 35-metre infinity pool, yoga facilities, outdoor cinema, and photo lab complete a resort-scale experience with genuinely excellent safari programming. The lodge represents strong value in this price bracket.
Sixty-eight rooms and 6 suites, all with private balconies, rain showers, and panoramic Serengeti views. Interconnecting rooms available for families. King and twin configurations throughout.
Seronera Airstrip is 45 minutes by road from the lodge. Scheduled flights from Arusha Airport (ARK) operate daily during high season; charter flights are available year-round. The Elewana team coordinates all transfers.
