Selous Serena Camp is the Serena Hotels group’s luxury tented camp in Nyerere National Park (the former Selous Game Reserve), one of the largest protected wildlife areas in Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The camp sits by the Zema River deep in the bush, offering a classic luxury safari aesthetic anchored in an Edwardian colonial style crystal chandeliers, rosewood furniture, opulent rugs, and claw-foot baths sit within canvas-walled tents under thatched roofs, creating a romantically incongruous combination of wilderness and old-world elegance.
Twelve luxury tents are spaced widely apart along the indigenous forest, each on a private wooden deck with a sun deck and panoramic views from both the outdoor shower and the private lounge chairs. The main area is elevated, with a spectacular infinity pool overlooking the bush from a high sundeck, connected by wooden walkways to the lounge, library, dining tent, and bar. The Nyerere ecosystem is ideally suited to multi-activity safaris: game drives, motorboat safaris on the river and lake, guided walking safaris, sundowner cruises, and bush picnics on sandbanks are all available. For honeymoon guests and special occasions, the camp arranges customised private dining and champagne experiences.
