Selous Kinga Lodge is a mid-range safari lodge positioned on the banks of the Rufiji River, 5km from the Mtemere entrance gate to Nyerere National Park (formerly the Selous Game Reserve). Its riverside location overlooking the Rufiji with hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds as permanent residents along the opposite bank is the lodge’s defining feature, offering exceptional value for the quality of setting and wildlife access. Accommodation comprises 10 contemporary safari cottages and 2 luxury tents (totalling 20 beds), each with private en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, river or garden views, and private patio or terrace. The flower-shaped swimming pool, bar, and restaurant enjoy unobstructed river views.
The Nyerere ecosystem is famous for its Big Five concentrations, wild dog, and diverse birdlife across more than 50,000 square kilometres of protected wilderness. Selous Kinga’s expert guides lead morning and afternoon game drives in the park, walking safaris through the riverside habitat, and boat safaris along the Rufiji where hippo pools, croc-lined banks, and excellent birding make river activity one of the highlights of a Nyerere safari. Boat safaris to the Tagalala Hot Springs can also be arranged.

Mtemere airstrip is the nearest landing strip, approximately 10 minutes by road from the lodge and 5km from the Mtemere park entrance gate. Scheduled flights from Dar es Salaam take approximately 45 minutes, and Zanzibar connections are available. By road from Dar es Salaam the drive is approximately 5–6 hours flying is more comfortable. The lodge is positioned 5km from the Mtemere gate along the Rufiji River.
