Namiri Plains is an Asilia Africa camp in the remote eastern Serengeti, in a region that was closed entirely to tourism for 20 years to allow the cheetah population to recover. “Namiri” means “big cat” in Swahili, and the camp lives up to its name: cheetah density here is among the highest in East Africa, and lion sightings are near-daily. The Ngare Nanyuki River runs in front of camp, drawing plains game to drink and predators in turn, providing outstanding wildlife viewing from the privacy of your own outdoor bathtub on the deck. No other safari camp of this quality is within an hour’s drive, and Asilia’s access to the Cheetah Project a long-running conservation research programme adds extraordinary depth to game drive experiences.
Eleven tented suites, recently upgraded with sliding glass doors that run the full width of the suite and open onto a full-length viewing deck, are constructed with natural stone walls made of calcrete from the surrounding landscape. The stone provides insulation and acoustic privacy; the outdoor resin bathtub on each deck is one of the most requested features in any Asilia camp. A pool, Asilia Spa, and library complete an intimate retreat that feels genuinely remote and exclusive despite being fully equipped for high-end comfort.
Eleven suites including one family suite. Full-length sliding glass doors open onto private decks with outdoor resin bathtubs. Stone calcrete walls and solar power throughout.
Seronera Airstrip is the main gateway for Central Serengeti and is approximately 90 minutes by road from camp the drive itself is a game drive. Charter and scheduled flights from Arusha Airport (ARK) take approximately 1 hour to Seronera. Asilia arranges all transfers.
