Mwiba Lodge is the flagship property of Legendary Expeditions, perched atop massive granite boulders and ancient outcrops within the private 125,000-acre Mwiba Wildlife Reserve on the southwestern edge of the Serengeti ecosystem. Elevated above the Arugusinyai River gorge, the lodge commands sweeping views over wild acacia woodland and rocky ridges, with the reserve’s 33 freshwater springs drawing a constant parade of elephant, lion, leopard, and plains game to three visible watering pools directly below the main infinity pool.
The lodge blends understated contemporary luxury with an intuitive connection to the bush. There are no set schedules: each party receives a private vehicle and dedicated guide, free to move as the wildlife dictates. Night drives, fly-camping, helicopter excursions, and cultural visits with the Hadzabe, Datoga, Sukuma, and Maasai communities extend the safari experience well beyond the vehicle. The reserve borders Maswa Game Reserve, and guests staying three nights or more receive complimentary access to Ndutu or the Southern Serengeti plains.
Ten luxury tented suites are linked to the main lodge by low wooden walkways winding through the boulders. Each suite features a king, twin, or triple bed configuration under a linen mosquito net, a soaking tub, and both indoor and outdoor rain showers on the hardwood deck. The Evening Breeze cooling system provides a gentle airflow overhead. Suites 2 and 3, and Suites 8 and 9, are adjoining pairs with connected raised decks — ideal for families travelling together. A slate-lined infinity pool, spa, fitness room, and wine cellar complete the main lodge facilities.
The most convenient access is via the private Mwiba airstrip, a 15-minute drive from the lodge. Charter flights connect Mwiba with Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, and other Tanzanian airstrips. The camp team coordinates all transfers from the airstrip.
