Mila Tented Camp is a private permanent camp by Legendary Expeditions, tucked into the Nyasirori region of the Serengeti’s western corridor — a remote, lesser-visited area renowned for large lion prides, the best of the westward Great Migration passage between May and July, and exceptional year-round game viewing. The camp’s name, Mila, means ‘traditions’ in Swahili, and the design honours the classic African tented safari with billowing linen, brass fixtures, and earthy tones, while providing genuine comfort and privacy in a place that feels genuinely off the beaten track.
Each party at Mila is allocated a dedicated private vehicle and guide — there are no shared game drives, no communal schedules. Guided walks, night drives, and cultural interactions with local communities are included in the full-board rates. Guests staying three or more nights receive a complimentary day trip to Ndutu or the Southern Serengeti. The camp is open mid-May through end of March; April and early May are closed for the long rains.
Five double tented suites and one family tent, all built on stone platforms with private verandas looking over the savannah. Each suite has a double or twin bed, en-suite shower and flush toilet, and is spaced well apart for complete privacy. The family tent connects two en-suite rooms via a shared lounge. A central mess tent serves as the dining and lounge area, with a campfire for evening socialising.
Scheduled and charter flights from Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, and other Tanzanian airstrips serve Seronera airstrip in the central Serengeti. From Seronera it is approximately one hour by road to Mila Tented Camp in the Nyasirori region. The camp team coordinates all airstrip transfers.
Note: Mila is open mid-May through end of March. The camp is closed during April and early May.
