Mbalageti Serengeti sits on Mwamveni Hill in the Western Corridor of the Serengeti National Park, overlooking the Mbalageti River Valley and the Dutwa Plains below. It is one of the larger lodge operations in the western corridor, offering three distinct accommodation categories that cater to different budgets and preferences within a single property. The location is excellent for the Great Migration season between May and July, when vast herds of wildebeest and zebra pour through the corridor on their way to the Grumeti River crossings.
The lodge’s main area — with its rim-flow swimming pool, restaurant, bar, terrace, and spa — occupies the best position on the hill, framing outstanding views over the plains. The tented chalets, positioned in two sets of twelve on the sunrise and sunset sides of the hill respectively, represent the finest accommodation at Mbalageti: beechwood floors, four-poster beds, and outdoor bathtubs on the deck that open directly to the wide panorama. Families are well served by the childminding services and pool area.
Forty rooms across three categories: 24 tented chalets (12 on the sunrise side, 12 on sunset), each with beechwood floors, four-poster bed, and outdoor bathtub on the deck; 14 standard lodge rooms in a block building with en-suite shower and private veranda; and 2 presidential suites with two bedrooms, private lounge, and large outdoor deck with bathtub.
The nearest airstrip is Grumeti airstrip (Kirawira B Aerodrome), approximately 45 minutes by road from the lodge. Seronera airstrip is approximately 1.5 hours by road. Charter and scheduled flights serve both airstrips from Arusha and Kilimanjaro. The lodge coordinates all airstrip transfers.
