Maisha Sweetwaters Camp is a mid-range tented safari camp in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy — the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa and home to the last two surviving northern white rhinos. The camp provides affordable access to one of Kenya’s most conservation-significant landscapes, offering comfortable accommodation and guided activities in a region where the wildlife viewing is exceptional year-round. The Swahili word ‘maisha’ means ‘life’, and the camp’s name reflects the vitality and biodiversity of the Ol Pejeta ecosystem that surrounds it.
Comfortable tented rooms with en-suite bathrooms, private verandas, and views of the conservancy provide a solid mid-range base. A pool, restaurant, and bar serve guests between activities. Game drives cover the conservancy’s varied habitats — wetlands, open grasslands, and riverine forest — where lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, black and white rhino, Grevy’s zebra, and African wild dog are all resident. Guided visits to the northern white rhino sanctuary and the chimpanzee sanctuary are significant highlights of any stay. The camp represents genuine value for money in one of Kenya’s most rewarding safari destinations.
Laikipia is reached by a 40–60 minute charter flight from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport (WIL) to Nanyuki Airport (NYK) or a private airstrip on or near the conservancy. SafariLink and Air Kenya both serve the Nanyuki route. The camp arranges transfers from the airstrip. By road from Nairobi the journey takes 3–4 hours via the A2 highway north through Nanyuki.
