Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge is a permanent luxury lodge by Lemala Authentic Camps and Lodges, built into the rocky kopjes and boulders of the Wogakuria Hills in the northern Serengeti named for the ancestral home of the local Kuria tribe who once roamed these plains. The lodge sits in a private concession within the Serengeti National Park, and its position provides stunning vistas over the grassy slopes and tree-lined watercourses of the Wogakuria Hills, with the Isuria Escarpment visible on the distant horizon and the Mara River a 30-minute game drive away.
Lemala Kuria Hills is an outstanding value proposition in the northern Serengeti, offering private plunge pools as standard on all fifteen suites a rarity outside the ultra-luxury tier plus the Melengali Spa, an infinity pool, and a lounge-bar built over two levels of the largest kopje, with arguably the most commanding view in the region. Fourteen of the fifteen glass-fronted suites face the burnt-orange sunset; one faces the sunrise. The lodge operates 100% off-grid on solar and wind power and has spearheaded a significant anti-plastic initiative across Tanzanian national parks.
Fifteen glass-fronted tented suites positioned amongst boulders and kopjes; 14 face the sunset, 1 faces the sunrise. Each suite has a private plunge pool, freestanding bathtub, outdoor shower, super-king or twin beds, and a private deck. The Melengali Spa tent, infinity pool, and two-level lounge-bar serve all guests.
The lodge is accessed via Kogatende airstrip in the northern Serengeti, approximately 45 minutes by road. Scheduled and charter flights from Arusha reach Kogatende in approximately 1 hour 20 minutes. Lemala coordinates all airstrip transfers. The lodge is closed during April and May for the long rains season.
