Ikoma Tented Camp is a Moivaro property situated in an acacia grove at the boundary of the Serengeti National Park’s western corridor, adjacent to the Ikoma gate. Its position just outside the park boundary is a genuine advantage: the camp holds special permits for night game drives and walking safaris activities not permitted within the national park itself giving guests a distinctive way to experience the Serengeti at dawn, dusk, and after dark. Day game drives into the western corridor, including Kirawira and the Grumeti River, are also offered.
The camp is straightforward and unpretentious: 35 traditional Meru tents under thatch with private verandas, a spacious restaurant and bar tent with a large campfire, and the simple pleasures of watching resident game from around the waterhole between drives. It represents solid value for travellers wanting genuine Serengeti access including the proximity to the Great Migration corridor in season at a mid-range price point. Children are welcome at all ages.
Thirty-five traditional Meru tents raised on platforms under thatched roofs, each with a private veranda overlooking the acacia grove, en-suite bathroom with shower and flush toilet, mosquito nets, electric lights, and basic amenities. Campfire lounge and bar in the central area.
The camp is situated at the border of the Serengeti National Park near the Ikoma gate. Seronera airstrip is the closest Serengeti airstrip, from which it is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour by road. The Moivaro team can coordinate transfers and recommend the most convenient flight routing from Arusha or Kilimanjaro.
